Read how Proportion Calculator handles calculator inputs, hosting logs, contact email, cookies, analytics, and advertising in the current site build.
Last reviewed July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes the current Proportion Calculator website. The calculator code processes entered values in the browser and does not send those values to a Proportion Calculator application server. The production site uses a self-hosted Umami service for aggregate web analytics. It has no accounts, advertising, affiliate tracking, or contact form.
Calculator Inputs
Values entered into a calculator are used in the browser to generate the result shown on the page. The site’s application code does not transmit those values, save them to a user account, place them in local storage, or attach them to an email. Refreshing or leaving the page clears the current interaction unless the browser itself preserves form state.
This local calculation behavior does not mean that all website access is anonymous. Network infrastructure still has to receive a request to deliver the page and its assets.
Hosting and Delivery Data
The hosting, content-delivery, and security infrastructure may process standard request information such as an IP address, request time, requested URL, referrer, user-agent string, and response status. Providers may use operational logs to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose faults, and maintain security. Their exact retention and processing practices are controlled by the provider and its configuration, not by calculator code in the page.
Cookies and Browser Storage
The current site application does not use local storage or session storage for calculator inputs. The configured Umami integration uses its standard cookie-free tracker; this site does not configure analytics cookies, user-provided identifiers, or cross-site tracking. Umami may group page views into cookie-free sessions using a rotating hash rather than persistent browser storage. A hosting or security provider may use strictly operational mechanisms when needed to serve or protect the site. Browser extensions and settings are outside this site’s control.
Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking
The production build loads a self-hosted Umami tracker from
a.proportion-calculator.net. It records ordinary page-view properties such as
the page hostname, URL and title, referrer, browser language, and screen size.
The URL can include query parameters when they are present.
The analytics service may also report aggregate browser, operating-system,
device, and location dimensions. According to Umami’s metric
definitions, an incoming IP
address may be used to derive location but is not stored as an Umami analytics
metric. Hosting and proxy logs may still process an IP address as described
above.
The site does not add custom Umami events, identify calls, or calculator values to the analytics payload. Analytics is used to understand aggregate traffic, page usage, and technical behavior; it is not used for advertising or cross-site profiling. Data is held in the site’s self-hosted analytics system, and, unless the system is configured otherwise, records remain until they are manually deleted. No shorter fixed retention period is currently promised. Questions about analytics data can be sent through the Contact page.
The current build still contains no advertising loader, advertising placeholder, or affiliate tracking. If those practices or the analytics setup change, this policy will be revised before the new integration is introduced, and any required consent mechanism will be evaluated for the actual service and audience.
If you email the address on the Contact page, the message and its metadata are processed by the relevant email providers. The message may be kept as needed to investigate the question, document a correction, protect the site, or maintain the conversation. Do not send sensitive personal or confidential information.
External Links
Some method notes link to textbooks, universities, standards organizations, research papers, or other external resources. Their sites have separate privacy practices. Following an external link sends a request to that site’s infrastructure.
Children
The site provides general educational tools and does not knowingly solicit personal information from children. There are no user accounts, profiles, or targeted advertising features in the current build.
Changes and Questions
This page is updated when the site’s actual data practices change; its review date is not advanced solely to make the policy appear new. Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected]. The Terms of Use explain the conditions for using the site.
